My new website is here — and you can order right from your phone
If you've been to my website lately, you might have noticed it looks a little different. Quite a lot different, actually.
I've been baking out of my kitchen on Old Mill Road for years now, and for most of that time my website was mostly a place that said "yes, I exist, here's my phone number." It was time for something better. So here it is.
You can build your cake right on the site
This is the part I'm most excited about.
There's a section called Build a Cake where you answer a few quick questions — what the occasion is, whether you want a round, square, heart, sheet or tiered cake or cupcakes, which flavor and frosting, when you need it and how many people you're feeding.
Then it writes the text message for you and opens it in your own phone, ready to send to me. You don't have to remember what to tell me or worry you've left something out. It's all in there.
I still get a text, same as always. You still get me texting back. It just saves us both the back-and-forth of me asking what flavor you wanted and how many people are coming.
Every cake I've photographed, in one place
The gallery has sixty of my cakes on it now, and you can filter them by what you're actually looking for — weddings, birthdays, cupcakes, showers, graduation, retirement, or special events.
I used to have these on separate pages and I know it was a pain to click around. Now it's one page and you just tap the kind you want.
The whole flavor list, written down
Sixteen cake flavors and nine frostings, all in one spot so you can mix and match. And as always — if you don't see what you want, just ask. I'm usually game to try something new.
This blog
This is the first post, so it's a bit of a quiet room in here. I'm planning to use it for new flavors, seasonal things, and the occasional cake I'm especially proud of.
A thank you
The site was built by The Summit AI Solutions, and I honestly can't say enough good things. They listened to what I actually needed instead of what they thought I needed, and they were patient with every question I had.
As a small business owner, every minute counts. Having a website that answers questions for me — and takes orders without a dozen texts back and forth — means more time doing the part I love, which is making cakes.
Have a look around. And if you've got something coming up, you know where the button is.
