What the deposit does (and why I ask for one)

Nobody loves talking about money, so let me make this part quick and clear.

What I ask for

Weddings: a $100 deposit holds your date.

Everything else: 50% down at the time of the order.

The remaining balance is due when you pick the cake up. Cash, check or Venmo — all three work, whichever is easiest for you.

Why it matters

Here's the important bit: a request isn't an order until the deposit is paid.

That's not me being strict. It's the only way I can be fair to everyone. When someone pays a deposit, that date is genuinely theirs — I stop taking other work that would crowd it out. If I held dates on "I'll probably want a cake," I'd end up turning away someone who was ready to book, and then losing both.

So if we've talked about a cake and you're waiting to hear back from me, and I haven't heard back from you — that date is still open to anyone. Please don't assume it's yours until the deposit is in.

What happens after

Once the deposit is paid, you can stop thinking about it. I'll come back to you if I have questions, and you're welcome to send me photos or change details as we get closer.
